Born in Aley, Lebanon, Imad immigrated to Edmonton in 1977. He graduated with a Math degree from the University of Alberta, and then continued his studies to obtain a Mechanical engineering degree, working as a professional Engineer at National Oil-well Varco designing and building oil field equipment.
Imad started volunteering for his community very early on, as a university student; he was a board member of the Arab Student Association on campus. After university, he along with a few friends started the Alberta Canadian Arab Cultural Club which participated in many different multicultural activities and organized annual cultural dinners.
The Cultural Society of Aley & District was established in Edmonton in 2004 and registered as a non-profit organization in 2005.
