As a Community Engagement Liaison and having a passion for community development, she decided to work with people and communities in the greater Edmonton area. Rola assists in building relationships of trust and rapport with culturally diverse communities to enhance their leadership and build capacities and empowerment. She collaborates with local ethnocultural grassroots groups, organizations, and institutions to promote equity and inclusiveness. She received the 2019 Janet Hughes Award from Edmonton’s Food Bank for assisting hundreds of community people in need of Food Hampers. In 2019/2020, she was chosen as one of the top 10 Arab women in Alberta by the LEB411 community and was elected by the Arab Women of Excellence Awards in North America as one of the top 50 women who made an outstanding difference in the community. She was featured in the Edmonton Chamber of Voluntary Organization Article “Lessons from the Influx” 2019. She believes everyone has the opportunity to succeed regardless of their original circumstances and is a believer in diversity and inclusion. She is confident that participating and contributing towards community empowerment not only creates opportunities for many but opens new paths of development and growth.
